Bay Bridge Hotel Hong Kong Review
There are a myriad of hotels here in Hong Kong, it being a top tourist destination. Depending on your budget and expectations, you surely can find one that would suit you.
And for mini staycations that we do as a family, we found the right spot in Tsuen Wan--Bay Bridge Hotel.
We discovered it when we were looking for a simple place to celebrate our wedding anniversary with our kids. We've been checking in every now and then at this hotel since 2017.
The hotel is facing Tsing Ma bridge so it's an enjoyable view any time of the day especially while you're having breakfast or lounging.
1. Price
It's a quiet and tranquil place to stay for a reasonable price. Rooms start from HKD500 per night. You could choose from their Studio, 1 Bedroom with Sea View, and Wellness Room. For us, we always chose the Studio room because the kids are not yet big enough.
2. Location
This hotel is at 123 Castle Peak Road, Ting Kau in Tsuen Wan. If you're willing to stay at a place that is not too close to MTR stations, this could be another option for you. They have frequent shuttle buses that would take you to Tsuen Wan MTR and you'll be there in less than 10 minutes. They also offer shuttle service to Tsim Sha Tsui.
However, they are located advantageously to the stop of the Airport Bus A38. My siblings came here last year to visit and celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and it was very convenient for them to go to and fro the airport directly.
3. Ambience
Bay Bridge Hotel is not a traditional hotel I must say. Their lobby, although not spacious, speaks modernity and youth. In fact, they offer longer stay options for students, tourists, etc. who are on the younger side. Hence, they've reflected the interiors very much to their target market.
I'm a breakfast person so I definitely loved the idea of buffet in the morning. For additional HK88 (as I remember), they offer a decent range of choices from Western to Asian food.
5. Service
On the occasions when we stayed at this hotel, the experience is incomparable to that of larger and more famous hotels who go over and beyond their means to satisfy you. But not because they are on the lower end, it would be acceptable for you to receive unsatisfactory service.
They were always fully booked during weekends and it's surprising that they don't double up their manpower to serve people. In our experience, all the tables at breakfast buffet were filled with guests and naturally, the almost all of the food they had served were emptied. Unfortunately, guests had to wait for longer than 10 minutes for the food to be replenished. I remember my son and I were lining up their pancake maker and it conk out on all of us but nobody assisted us promptly or even advised us that the machine was no longer working. At one instance, all the main dishes like the sausages, bread, beans, and even eggs ran out and was not quickly replenished. It was a disappointing moment when I had guests with literally waiting for food.
I checked out Tripadvisor to see if there are other guests who experienced the same thing and there are quite a lot. As an advice to them, I hope they take the reviews to heart and use it as an opportunity to improve on their service. After all, they are in the hospitality industry so they should place customer experience and satisfaction of great importance.
Overall, this hotel is a reasonable place to stay especially if you plan the rest of your day touring and eating outside. In addition to that, it's rightfully accessible to the train station and airport bus. So if you're planning to travel to Hong Kong some time after COVID-19 is gone, you might want to consider staying here.
