5 Places to go in Bangkok, Thailand
It was a spur of the moment thing when my husband and I decided to go to Bangkok. We braved and bought tickets and reservation online. 2 days later, we are already flying out of Hong Kong.
Honestly, we didn't have a heck of idea where to go. I had to ask my cousin who's a certified traveller on where to go in Bangkok. Most likely, we were able to go to all the places he recommended.
1. Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
This was definitely not part of our itinerary since the area is out of Bangkok. When our tour guide picked us up the second day, she suggested we go to the Floating Market which I really wanted to see. At first we were hesitant because it was expensive at 2300 baht each. After haggling, she agreed at 1600 baht.
Still, we find this not too much because we were comfortable in our own tour car, Volvo, just for the two of us. We didn't have to think of the time of others unlike when you joined a tour group.
TIP: If it will not break your heart to not buy from the sellers, then don't. The prices they offer are way beyond the regular. Enjoy the boat ride and head to Madam Paew's store where you will see souvenirs and buddhas at reasonable prices.
My husband was kinda forced to buy 3 buddhas at 200 baht each from a floating store. When I strolled around Madam Paew's, the buddhas at bigger sizes are just 60 baht each. Uh oh.
2. Wat Pho- The Reclining Buddha and the Birthday Buddhas
3. Khaosan Road
4. MBK- If you want to go shopping, MBK is the place to be. The next day we went back for MBK, we passed by Siam Square and I was thrilled to find hawkers by the side of the street. They are hawkers who sell trendy clothes and accessories. Felt much like Divi. The prices are exceptionally inexpensive, too!
This is the only night market we were able to go to. Unfortunately, Chatuchak is only open on weekends so we didn't make it there. In Patpong, there were a lot of knock-off items of high end brands. We didn't buy anything here except for 3 canvases with photos of Thailand at a cheap price as well. And yes, you can haggle prices with the owners which they oblige most of the time.
